Doing the assaulting that Americans won't do

Here's a story about the kinds of contributions we can increasingly look forward to as more and more illegal immigrants flood our porous borders:
A Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering after being ambushed while making an arrest. Investigators say Lake County Deputy Cliff McMikeenamy responded to a noise complaint near Long Acres Road in Sorento Sunday evening. While on scene, the deputy said an unknown suspect threw a beer bottle at his patrol car. McMikeenamy chased the suspect down and attempted to subdue him with a taser gun but before the deputy could secure the man, about a dozen other men attacked the deputy. "As he was securing the subject with his handcuffs, several other people here at the residence began attacking him. They struck him repeatedly, began kicking him, and his injuries lead us to believe that one subject even struck him over the head with a beer bottle,” said Sergeant John Herrell from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Deputy McMikeenamy was transported to a Florida Hospital Waterman in Eustis and treated for cuts and bruises. At least two men were taken into custody. Authorities say the two who were apprehended have been identified as illegal immigrants.

And before anyone gives me that crap about how all illegal immigrants aren't criminals, and it isn't fair to paint them with this kind of broad brush, stuff it. The very act of coming here illegally is breaking the law; remember that as the MSM starts canonizing illegal immigrants for sainthood.

And it is, after all, a little bit interesting how much crime seems to increase in areas with high populations of illegal immigrants.

They're just doing the assaulting Americans won't do.

Illegal alien arrested for keeping his girlfriend chained to an engine

I was browsing along this morning, when I came across this story linked at Ace of Spades. It's about a man -- Fernando Orozco-Trevizo -- who kept his girlfriend chained to an engine inside their trailer. He also beat her and strangled her. The desperate woman was able to escape by drawing "Call 911" in the condensation on the window, catching the attention of a neighbor who called police.
Investigators believe the woman was held captive in her apartment, near 2900 West and 3500 South, for several days, possibly a week or more. When her boyfriend was home, she was allowed to roam freely in the apartment. But when he left, a chain was tied around her ankles, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan. The other end of the 20-foot dog chain was tied to a 6-cylinder engine in the closet, he said.

The chain was long enough for her to reach a restroom, but she could not leave the room. The door leading into the room had deadbolts on both sides, McLachlan said, and both were locked. The windows in the room were screwed shut so they couldn't be opened. Additionally, the apartment had no phone.

Last Friday morning, the desperate woman wrote "call 911" in the condensation on her window. The first floor window, which was in the back of the building, faced a neighboring trailer court. The nearest trailer was about 20 yards away.

Peter Erkelens, 32, who lives in that trailer, was just getting home from work when he saw the woman writing on her window with her finger, he said. He saw the message and was able to talk to the chained woman through the glass. He then called 911 using his mobile phone.

...

The woman talked to the man while her boyfriend was still in the house, McLachlan said. She barricaded the door with a dresser so he could not get in, he said.

When police arrived, they kicked in the front door of the apartment and broke out the glass from the back room. They found "a frantic woman crying," according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.

"After police told me she was chained to an engine block, I was kinda shocked and disgusted," Erkelens said. "Who does that?"

The woman told officers that her boyfriend, "beats her regularly, strangles her and doesn't let her leave." In addition to the engine block and chain, police also found padlocks and the two-way deadbolt lock "that was secured with a key from the inside and outside."

"The victim had injuries from being beaten, strangled and there were scratches on her lower legs where the chain had been attached," the jail report stated.

Here is the mugshot of Orozco-Trevizo:

Of course, there's no specific mention in this story as to what his immigration status is. But there's a telling little nugget in one of the last paragraphs (emphasis mine):
Orozco-Trevizo was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated kidnapping and assault. He also had an immigration detainer put on him for aggravated re-entry into the United States. Orozco-Trevizo told police if he got deported again, "he will come back for the victim," according to jail records.

So if he gets deported again, he'll come back for the girlfriend -- meaning he's been deported before. And he doesn't care at all about breaking our laws again to come back to try to beat, strangle, and imprison this girl again (if not worse).

So... why has he not already been kicked out? He'll probably serve out his jail sentence, to then be freed with a deportation order that no one bothers to follow through with so he can continue with his vile ways here in the United States, free to continue on breaking our laws and exploiting our generosity. Isn't that how it normally works?

But hey, he's just doing the imprisoning and girlfriend-beating that regular Americans won't do, right? We should respect that. I'm just being a xenophobic bigot. My bad.

Here's a better plan: Deport. Them. NOW.

Spitzer changes his mind about giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens

New York Governor Spitzer is backpedaling faster than you can say low poll numbers. He's now recanted his position about offering illegal aliens drivers licenses.
With his poll numbers collapsing, Gov. Spitzer pullled the plug today on his controversial plan to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses.

"I have concluded that New York state cannot successfully address this problem on its own," Spitzer said at a news conference after meeting with members of the state's congressional delegation. "I am withdrawing my proposal."

To save face, Spitzer railed against the federal government for its inability to handle the illegal immigrant issue, saying it had "lost control of its borders. ... and has no solution to deal with it," he said.

"States, towns and villages still have to deal with the practical reality of that failure. In New York, that means 1 million documented workers," he said.

Spitzer said public opinion led him to his decision.

"You don't need a stethoscope to hear the heartbeat of the public on this one," the governor told reporters. "There are some moments where emotions are simply too hot."

The embattled governor made the announcement after he met with the state's heavily Democratic congressional delegation, which had grown increasingly critical of the plan.

The decision to wave the white flag was cemented as a Siena Research Institute poll released yesterday showed Spitzer with his lowest approval ratings ever - with just 25 percent of voters saying they would support his re-election if the vote were held today.

Get that? It's not his fault that the plan failed. It's the nasty federal government that is ruining his brilliant plan, and now New York is stuck with one million "undocumented workers". Notice how there was no mention of how handing out these licenses to illegal aliens would undermine security. That's of the least importance to Spitzer. No, what matters to him is that his numbers are dropping lower and lower, and therefore, he's retreating as fast as he can.

Well, at least something got him to do the right thing.

Illegal aliens working at O'Hare Airport

After 9-11, this should not be happening (emphasis mine).
Nearly two dozen illegal immigrants were arrested Wednesday, accused of using fake security badges to work in critical areas of O'Hare International Airport, including the tarmac, authorities said.
The 23 illegal workers were employed by Ideal Staffing Solutions Inc., whose corporate secretary and office manager also were arrested after an eight-month investigation that involved federal, state and Chicago authorities.

The company contracted work for carriers including United Airlines, KLM and Qantas, said Elissa A. Brown, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.

Much of the investigation centered on the airport security badges issued by the Department of Aviation, said U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald. Agents found that 110 of the 134 badges issued to Ideal Staffing workers did not match the individuals who carried them, he said.

The discrepancies were first noted in March by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspector, Fitzgerald said.

According to affidavits in a complaint against Gurin and Benitez unsealed Wednesday in U.S. District Court, the applications for the 110 bogus badges listed Social Security numbers that either did not exist or belonged to other individuals, some of whom were dead.

The affidavits allege that Ideal Staffing told workers they needed to have identification, but that the documents did not have to be legitimate, and also accused the company of supplying some workers with deactivated badges issued in other names.

Brown, Fitzgerald and other officials declined to answer questions about how workers could use deactivated badges to enter secure areas of the airport, saying that the investigation continued and that not all details could be revealed.

Doesn't that just give you the warm-and-fuzzies?

Not only are illegal aliens able to work at one of our biggest airports, they were able to have access to secure, sensitive areas of the airport.

How did this company get away with this for so long? Why was the O'Hare Airport not more mindful of who was working there?

As Ace puts it (so well, by the way):
There is a reason people are pissed off about illegal immigration, and it isn't rank bigotry, its stories like this. Just a few years after our airlines were used to attack us, we have illegal immigrants using bogus documents and expired security badges to wander about in sensitive parts of America's largest airport. No wonder our government officials have such piss-poor poll numbers.

It's just un-freakin-believable.

New York lets illegals get drivers licenses

Get that? The state that was the site of the worst terror attack in United States history is letting illegal aliens get drivers licenses now.
They were celebrating outside the governor's office Friday as Eliot Spitzer handed a landmark victory to a half-million illegal immigrants.

The state will no longer require proof of citizenship for driver's licenses.

"We're changing our policy with respect to getting more people out of shadows and into the system so people don't hide they're here," Spitzer said.

He said the current restrictions on non-citizens have filled the roads with unlicensed drivers five times more likely to get into accidents. But he also called it a matter of justice. "As long as I'm governor we won't pretend they don't exist, cut them off from society," Spitzer said.

But the action triggered a bitter response from some 9/11 family members, who said the governor would be providing identification for potential terrorists. And a Brooklyn state senator says he'll try to overturn the decision.

"This governor has chosen to give the keys to the city, the keys to the state to terrorism," Golden said.

As for the public, it's clear that people have strong feelings on both sides of the issue.

"I don’t think if you're here illegally you should have the same privileges people who are here legally do," office manager Cliff Hoffman said. Added legal word processor Bill Slater: "I think illegal people are getting a free ride. I don't think it's fair to other hard-working citizens who do work hard."

Planning consultant John Madden said the move is also a pre-emptive strike against another type of potentially hazardous driver. "The problem is they're gonna drive anyway," Madden said. "You might as well make them legal drivers with insurance."

The new rules will start to kick in at the end of the year, unless someone finds a way to put a halt to them.

Under the new policy, the Department of Motor Vehicles will accept foreign passports and birth certificates from immigrants as proof of identification. They will no longer need to provide a Social Security card.

Well gee, why don't we just hand them a few 747s while we're at it?

You would think that New York would have learned the lesson of what terrorism can do to our country more than anyone else, but Governor Spitzer has decided that the best way to handle illegal aliens is to hand them legal identification to make it easier for them to attack the country.

Not to mention that illegal aliens, are, well, illegal. He says he won't cut them off from society, but that's exactly what he should do. If they aren't prepared to come here through legal channels like the millions of legal immigrants before them have, then they shouldn't be here. They have no rights. Period.

Then there's also the effect that illegal aliens are having on the overall well-being of the cities and counties they're taking over, like New York's own Westchester and Putnam counties, as an example. Public drunkenness and urinating have become the norm, as liberal moonbats agreed with illegal aliens who sued the city of Mamaroneck to stop police officers from asking them if they were here legally and trying to get them to move along rather than be wasted in the streets, claiming it was discrimination.

But, to moonbat Governor Spitzer, none of that matters. Safety of New York citizens, overall well-being of the cities and counties of New York, following our country's laws -- that's all irrelevant. The most important thing is that illegal aliens get their way.
